Fortunately for Brits, we have some of the most spectacular sights to admire, and there’s a diverse variety to choose from. With captivating coastlines, majestic mountainous regions and everything in between, you’re spoilt for choice for your next getaway. So where are the best views in the UK?

Below, our guide shows you some of the best locations for sea views, mountain views and more, so you can book the perfect holiday for breathtaking sights, whatever the season.

Best mountain views in the UK

Snowdon, North Wales

Snowdon

Standing at 1,085 metres tall, it’s not hard to see why Wales’ highest mountain commands one the best views from its summit. A few years back, it was also voted the UK’s best view, with a particular favourite viewpoint overlooking Llyn Llydaw. This location sees over half a million people climb to the peak each year. But, if you’re not feeling energetic, there’s a train that takes you close to the summit.

Of course, the weather plays an important part in what you can see from the top, so it’s best to choose the clearest day possible to soak up the scenery. However, even if you’re met with mist at the top, the journey up the mountain still provides awe-inspiring sights.

Scafell Pike, Lake District

Scafell Pike - kate & tom's Large Holiday Homes

As England’s highest peak, this viewpoint offers over 90 miles of views across the landscape on a clear day – if you’re lucky, you can see as far as Wales and Scotland! Uniquely, this viewpoint doesn’t just offer fantastic scenery – it’s also home to the highest-standing water in England, Broad Crag Tarn.

There are several routes to the summit. But for more leisurely strolls, the mountain offers a backdrop for walks around the stunning valleys of Borrowdale and Wasdale. Summer is a popular time to admire the best UK mountain views, but spring and autumn also immerse the senses in rich colours and changing landscapes.

Best sea views in the UK

Seven Sisters, Sussex

Seven Sisters - kate & tom's Large Holiday Homes

Along the Sussex Heritage Coast of the South Downs National Park is the beautiful spot of Seven Sisters. The distinctive chalk cliffs make for some of the best sea views in the UK, and you can admire the scenery along the 280 miles of white cliffs and open chalk grassland.

If you want to experience a classic view of the landscape, venture to Seaford Head, where you’ll witness panoramic views of the cliffs. This area not only offers you incredible scenery and coastal sights, there’s also a host of activities to try, including kayaking, paddle boarding, stargazing and cycling.

Old Harry Rocks, Dorset

Old Harry Rocks - kate & tom's Large Holiday Homes

Dorset is home to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and has incredible sea views stretching as far as The Needles on the Isle of Wight. Old Harry Rocks form part of this beautiful coastline, and the jutting chalk hills here have been eroded over time (since the last Ice Age), creating a unique outcrop from the cliff face.

Walking along the South West Coast Path is the best way to see this formation. But you can also get a unique viewpoint by kayaking in the waters below or hopping on a boat trip to learn more about the area.

Best UK countryside view

Cleeve Hill, The Cotswolds

Cleeve Hill, Cheltenham - kate & tom's Large Holiday Homes

The Cotswolds offer some of the best rural views in the UK. Its status as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty means there are several places that have the wow factor on your getaway. At the highest point, Cleeve Hill has a spectacular view of the River Severn, and on a clear day, you can see as far as Winchcombe and more of west Gloucestershire

This location is great for walking and cycling. But if you’re looking for a slower pace, you can drive up Cleeve Hill and stop at the pub on the hill for a refreshing tipple.

Best lake view in the UK

Ullswater, Lake District

Ullswater, Penrith - - kate & tom's Large Holiday Homes

As expected, the top spot for the best lake view has to be one of the many locations in the Lake District, with Ullswater a firm favourite. This spot is the second-largest lake in the National Park and is nestled at the foot of the third-highest mountain in England, Helvellyn.

To admire the views, you can hike the numerous trails along the waterside or head into the hills for views over the area. It’s a spectacular sight in all seasons and makes for a fun place to explore with kids and dogs. What’s more, there are a variety of pubs and cafes in the area to grab some much-needed refreshments.
