Seclusion and serenity hang in the Cumbrian air around Newcross Cottage. The fire crackles and the conversation flows after a long day on the fells. The luxury runs over, in the shape of the handmade-oak kitchen, antique furniture, oak and stone floors and freestanding bath. Newcross Cottage is built for families to bond.
Perfect seclusion and serenity
Newcross Cottage is a happy chunk of sandstoned splendour taking up a large portion of Cumbria in the private grounds of Newcross Hall. A sense of peace hangs in the atmosphere and there’s a feeling of bijou luxury inside the three-bed cottage.
The master bedroom comes with en-suite and antique-oak bed. Reception-room floors are oak and stone. The vast kitchen is handmade in oak. Antique furniture abounds. Outside, front and rear gardens lead to the archery lawn. Take a stroll around the walled garden, pick fruit in the walled Victorian garden or bring your wellies and lark about in the stream in the private woodland gardens of Newcross Hall.
Walk the Pennine hills from the gate; pop to the local pubs with your dog; bring back a date-and-walnut scone from the Egon Ronay-recommended bakery. You’ll return to perfect seclusion and serenity. Fill the freestanding bath with piping-hot water and soak; get the fire crackling and the conversation flowing.
Newcross Cottage is built for small families. Eat together, walk together, explore together, potter together, splash together. Whatever you get up to, the key word is together.
The landscape in the Eden Valley is appealing as The Lakes close by. Walk, ramble and hike, then retire for afternoon tea at the Village Bakery. Back at base, you can picnic by the River Eden, walk to the Long Meg stone circles, potter La Brocante Emporium for antiques or tuck into a steak at The Fetherstone Arms.
