Cottage of the Month: The Grey Cabin

Grey Cabin blogEvery so often you get the chance to stay somewhere that is not only in a prime location but far exceeds your expectations in terms of quality, luxury and facilities. This may be a resort in Cancun, a retreat on Phuket or a 5* hotel in Dubai. All of the above, however, will also relieve you bank balance of a hefty chunk of its contents and considering staycations are the latest buzzword in travel in makes sense to find such a place in the UK.

Literally steps away from the stunning golden stretch that is Camber Bay in East Sussex, the Grey Cabin offers its visitors the dream location for a coa   stal holiday with all the other bits thrown in for good measure. If you thought beach Cabins of this calibre only existed in such places as Malibu then think again. With 4/5 bedrooms and easily accommodating 8-12 people, this is the perfect base for that large group holiday or for 2 families to enjoy quality time at the coast together.

grey-house-living-1A recent renovation on an epic scale sees the Grey Cabin now benefit from a spacious open concept with a comfortable and welcoming décor in the shabby chic style. Vintage and antique furniture look perfectly at home against the contemporary backdrop and even when at full capacity never feels crowded. The wood panelling within the Cabin is painted in cool hues of white and grey in keeping with the whole beach Cabin theme which you can appreciate better in the images.

The pièce de résistance is the 3 sets of French doors which open onto the decked patio area at the front overlooking the stunning coastal vista. Can you think of anywhere better to catch the last of the days rays while relaxing with a glass of vino? There is also a decked area in the spacious back garden and what with this at the back and a beach as a playground at the front you are guaranteed that your little ones will sleep like logs after full days of running around expending that childhood energy.

There is also a second double bedroom, a twin bedroom and a further room with 2 sets of bunks. The top bunks are 175cm long and perfect for children who love the thrill of sleeping up top and top quality cotton sheets are provided for all the beds. The 5th bedroom is downstairs and is a snug which has a 4’wide sofa bed. In addition the master en-suite there are further 2 shower rooms in Grey Cabin which both have toilets as well.

A large, stainless steel cooker takes pride of place in the kitchen which also includes 2 fridge/freezers, a washer/dryer, a dishwasher, a wood burning stove and underfloor heating.

Only 5 minutes walk from the beautiful village of Camber, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect setting for the kind of British beach holiday that creates the kind of memories that last a life time. The owner of Grey Cabin also owns a second Cabin in the village itself so if your group exceeds 12 people there are 2 properties to accommodate you all; a win win situation if ever there was one.
