What more do you need from a holiday home close by the Lincolnshire wolds than three storeys, seven bedrooms, space for 15, and 350 years of charm and history? Well, how about a private temple, a ‘real sunlight’ room, a medieval banqueting hall, an ice palace and a Casino Royale disco? That’ll do nicely.
But we mustn’t overlook Temple Sun Manor’s boho lounge. Bursting with charm, it’s an electric, eclectic mix of the modern, the mad and the magical. Not that that’ll stop you kicking back and flicking Netflix on among family and friends on the deep leather sofas or streaming stuff on the superfast wifi.
Stare at the stars from the hot tub, take a tipple in the temple, get your om on in the yoga room, take breakfast in the secret garden. Dine in the banqueting hall beneath pictures of knights from times past and the candlelit chandelier, and sleep in seven unique themed bedrooms. Stay here and life will never be quite the same again.
There’s real sunlight indoors here, but plenty of it outside, too. Enjoy breakfast and dining in the secret garden whilst the sun rises. Worship whatever you like in the outdoor temple. Get your om going in the outdoor yoga space.
Enjoy sunset dining on the cartwheel table. Pile into the hot tub and bubble and boil beneath the stars. There’s a quarter of an acre here in which to play, potter or just professionally chill at night in the fairy lights beneath the moon.
Luxury never looked so quirky. Living spaces at Temple Sun Manor are medieval and modern, mad and magnificent. There’s 350 years of history here, perfectly captured in the panelled walls, cornicing and wood-burning fires, yet an eccentric restoration perfectly accentuates its most-striking features.
The main living space is an exercise in animal prints, deep Chesterfield sofas and bohemian magic. Cut the neon lights and settle back for a night of Netflix or post your pictures to Insta on the superfast broadband. Need a dose of vitamin D? Head to the Real Sunlight Room for a blast of 365-day, 360-degree sun technology.
Make time for a little mindfulness in the indoor meditation and yoga space with its temple-themed mural. Make like James Bond in the Casino Royale Disco Room, complete with blackjack and roulette table. When you’re done, throw on some sounds and dance to the disco lights. You can even sleep over in the sofa bed.
Cooking’s no chore in this spectacular kitchen complete with double range gas cooker, six-burner gas hob and microwave. But if you fancy a night off, Cheflincs is your man, with restaurant-quality fine food in the comfort of your own holiday home. You won’t even need to do the dishes. Wrap up with bean-to-cup coffee from the DeLonghi.
Eat around the twelve-seater dining table in the medieval banqueting room, with its ancient beams, candlelit chandelier, stone floor, and yawning fireplace. Or out on the terrace, amid the serenity of the seasonal garden. Stock up at Butterwick Londis and Leverton Spar.
Looking for light bites? Noglish Coffee Shop is a Scandi/English café serving cakes, bakes and lovely coffee. Enjoy the finest locally sourced ingredients at The White Hart, set serenely by a lake with a large terrace often given over to salsa. Or will it be Tuscan chicken pasta or spicy nacho burger at The View down the coast.
Try La Pappardella for stone-baked Italian, Swojskie Jadlo for Polish and Eastern European, Los Burritos for Mexican and Bombay Brasserie for Indian. Maybe you’d prefer pan-fried scallops or Portobello mushrooms from Kirton Kitchen? Or perhaps a Stilton and mushroom burger at the classically English Wheatsheaf Bar and Grill?
Follow the antique spiral staircase up to seven unique, themed bedrooms sleeping up to 15 with five-star hotel-standard towels and linens.
Let it go in the Ice Palace. If the cold never bothered you anyway, enjoy a crazy, cosy exercise in mood lighting with a stunning chandelier and Ice-King-sized bed. Majestic Romance is another kingsize room, but on the ground floor, so perfect for anyone with mobility issues.
Zanzibar is a triple family room with a double and single bed complete with Jacuzzi bath and en-suite. There’s peace, quiet and a more-mindful you to be found in Don’t Mess With My Zen, a delightful double, while Unleash the Puppy is a dog-friendly room with a kingsize bed. Away With The Fairies is a magical double designed to enchant, Disney-style, and the Captain’s Cabin double comes themed with palm trees and treasure chests.
Late night on the roulette? There’s a sofa bed in the games room. Refresh yourself in a shared bath and shower room and two other shower rooms, all with toilet and sink.
If your kids love an eclectic explosion of colour like no other, then Temple Sun Manor is for them. With a new surprise behind every door, this is a magical voyage of discovery with a crazy yet cosy feel. And yet, among the elegance and the eccentricities sit all the creature comforts that’ll remind them of home.
Those comforts include superfast wifi, a wall TV with Netflix in the main living area and another in the games room: familiar anchors among the fun. And if your kids are averse to outdoors, there’s plenty vitamin D on offer in the Real Sunlight Room, with its 365-day sun technology.
They’re never too young for a little mindfulness and meditation, so bring them along to the indoor yoga space for a little self-reflection. And although they’re for sure too young for the Casino Royale roulette table in the games room, dancing under the disco lights should burn a little pre-bedtime energy.
At bedtime, kids can pick a room that’s all them. Pirate fan? They’ll want the Captain’s Cabin, with its galleon and buried-treasure vibe. Disney princess? That’ll be Away With the Fairies. Can’t be parted from the pet pooch? They’ll need the dog-friendly Unleash the Puppy. There’s something for everyone at Temple Sun Manor.
