Small but perfectly formed

Live out secluded bliss at Tamaris Barn Cottage. Head over the tors and into the county of Cornwall. Walk the untouched woodlands, eat al-fresco on the sun-deck or dial-up your dinner. Sink into the plush sofas for a movie night or hang out in the hot tub beneath the stars. It’s rest, recuperation and recreation in one small, but perfectly formed, rural package.

Tamaris Barn Cottage is perfectly placed to enjoy the delights of two counties. A West-Country base to explore the moors of Devon and post-card perfect towns of Cornwall. It’s a quiet place for a family getaway. It’s a celebration for friends. It’s a party, a farm shop and a restaurant. Celebrate, recuperate, invigorate.

You’ll be well-rested to enjoy everything the cottage has to offer in the two impeccably decorated bedrooms. Amid over 400 acres of farmland and untouched woodland, Tamaris Barn Cottage sits as a homage to quaint country living, inviting you to walk the wider estate, dine al-fresco on a summer evening, shoot, fish, ride, or just revel in the serene silence of the Devon and Cornwall border.

Picnic on the lawn, sprawl on the sofas and find a Netflix nugget or two, hang out in the four-person hot tub beneath clear country skies. Eat out in the local farm shop, have dinner delivered to your door, keep the dishwasher on standby.

Fish the rivers, drink real ale in the ancient pubs, climb the tors, explore the rugged Cornish coast, walk the winding lanes, enjoy the tractor factor. Take a coffee in the garden, escape to reflect, get together and chill out in the hot tub.

Gardens and Grounds

The cottage sits within a wider farmland estate, surrounded by unspoiled woodland, but enjoys its own private garden with a sun-trap patio area, ideal for long summer nights of dining alfresco around the garden table. Play head chef and fire up the gas barbie and make the most of local produce from Lifton Farm Shop.

The icing on the cake, however, is the four-seater hot tub. Start the bubbles, pop some prosecco, sit back and unwind for a long night under wide-open sky – the stars look great from here – or simply admire the far-reaching views of the Devon countryside. Don’t worry about muddy shoes when you venture off exploring the local landscape; there is an outdoor porch large enough to store bicycles, boots and mucky kids wellies.

You won’t be short on comfort at Tamaris Barn Cottage, in fact, you’ll feel right at home on the vast squishy sofas flicking through Freeview on the large flat screen. Or raid the DVD stash for a Friday night movie. Or connect phones to the wifi and scroll away. The choice is yours.

The stylish space is open-plan with the dining area, fitted with a sleek dining table big enough for the whole party. The dining area leads onto the separate farm-house chic kitchen, featuring exposed beams and additional seating. In the morning, set yourselves up for a fun-filled day with croissants, coffee and orange juice at the breakfast bar.

In the evening, cooking up a storm should be easy in this well-equipped kitchen, featuring a 5-ring electric hob, large oven and fridge freezer. Once the dinner party is over, just load up the dishwasher and let it do the hard work for you whilst you unwind. Perhaps you’ll take yourselves out to the hot-tub to drink in the valley of trees, ponds and wide-open space?

Tamaris Barn Cottage sleeps four across two luxurious bedrooms, both with rustic exposed beams, soft grey carpets, crisp bedding and plush velvet accents. The master bedroom boasts a super king bed and its own en-suite with roll-top bath, perfect for unwinding, and a separate shower. Bedroom two has a zip and link bed, so can be made up to suit your party as either a twin or double bedroom, and its own en-suite shower room.

We loved our weekend and the Barn Cottage! It was the perfect location right between Devon and Cornwall and the owners have equipped it well and decorated it with good taste. Our family had a great time and especially loved the hot tub! - Mrs Perry
