It’s often surprising how many beaches don’t allow dogs, especially when we all know the pooch is man’s best friend.
No need to worry, we have explored the shorelines of Britain to bring you the cream of the crop of beaches for you and your four legged friend.
When it comes to dog friendly shores in England, there’s no doubt the West Country’s the place to be. Cornwall, Devon and Dorset are all lovely spots for a holiday – and their beaches are generally perfectly unspoilt for days out with your pooch.
Studland Beach, Dorset
Studland Beach has over three miles of sandy beaches backed by sand dunes.
Dogs are only allowed on the main beaches from September – June and must be on a lead from 1st May. Rest of the year dogs are allowed on South Beach and Shell Bay only.
The nearby heathland is brimming with wildlife and offers more walking opportunities for you and your furry friend.

Porthcurnick Beach, Cornwall
A beautiful south east facing sandy cove, owned by the National Trust, Porthcurnick beach is just north of Portscatho on the beautiful Roseland peninsula.
The secluded beach in Cornwall is home to Hidden Hut, a little beachside café that holds pop-up feast nights in summer and yes, the dogs are most definitely welcome.
There are walks along a coastal footpath to Portscatho around St Anthony Headland to the west, or to Carne and Pendower beaches in the opposite direction.

Beer Beach, Devon
In Devon you’ll find the fishing village of Beer, where dogs are welcome on its eastern shore all year round and the western shore between September and May.
After your stroll, you’ll both be welcome at the Anchor Inn for a well-deserved bowl of water (or pint).
Beer Beach is a natural suntrap and the waters in the bay are very sheltered, and a perfect family beach for kids to play and dogs to wag their tales.
