Visit Cheshire

As one of six counties that stake a claim to the wonderful Peak District, Cheshire is a great choice for anyone who loves to stroll, hike, jog or cycle.

Challenge yourself with the 300-metre ascent of Shining Tor – the highest point in Cheshire. Tackle some of the 35 miles offered up by the Gritstone Trail. Or take in the waterfalls at Three Shires Head, where the ‘three shires’ of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire meet.

No guide to Cheshire would be complete without mentioning the county town of Chester.

Visit the historic city, where you’ll find an abundance of the black timber-frame buildings Cheshire is renowned for.

That’s paired with distinctive attractions like the Roman Amphitheatre and city walls – not to mention the iconic two-tiered Chester Rows, packed with independent shops.

Things to do in Cheshire

It’s not just peaks and pretty places that Cheshire has to offer. There’s also plenty going on for kids and adults alike. Chester Zoo is a must-visit, situated on the outskirts of its namesake city. With well over 500 species, it’s no surprise to see it named as the UK’s best zoo – and amongst the world’s top contenders too.

If it’s family fun you’re after, look no further than Gulliver’s World. Designed for families with children from 2-13, the lively theme park has everything from water slides and roller coasters to dodgems and the Desperado drop. Or head to the magnificent Delamere Forest, where kids, teens and even adults can let their wild side free at Go Ape.
