Kids Ahoy!

Countryside or coast? Just a handful of miles from the bucket-and-spade Blue Flag beaches of Mablethorpe and Sutton-on-Sea, yet wrapped in the bucolic embrace of the Wolds, The Curved House gives kids the luxury of choice.

Lift little heads from Hudls and iPads with real-life wonder at the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary. See the rescued seals in the seal pools, admire the birds in the aviary and take a step back through the centuries on the Time Walk to see fossils, dinosaurs and more.

Watch knuckles go white at Fantasy Island, see grey seals at the Donna Nook Nature Reserve, play with the ponies and piglets at Rushmoor Country Park, meet parakeets and marmosets at the Jungle Zoo, or ride through the rolling hills on the Wolds Railway.

For the grown-ups

For The Curved House’s family groups, celebrations, parties and hens, Lincolnshire offers countryside as well as coast, and we’re just a few miles from the blustery walks on the beach at Sutton-on-Sea or the surfing of Mogg’s Eye.

Fish, ride and golf before taking the Tennyson Trail around the rolling landscapes. Even further back in time, at the foot of the Wolds sits Gunby Hall and Gardens, a country house set in Victorian gardens. Practically prehistoric is Elizabethan Doddington Hall, with its five acres of romantic gardens and turf maze.

Pick up some Firsby fudge or artisan bread and pate at Alford Craft Market. The pace is pleasantly pedestrian at the Alford Five-Sailed Windmill and Tea Room. Restored and in use, you can buy flour in the shop and cakes in the tearoom. Buy a ticket to the top of the windmill to see how it works.
