The Castle on the Coast is a feast of family fun sleeping up to 20 people. Built by John Penn the grandson of William Penn founder of Pennsylvania, The Castle on the Coast is warm and welcoming in winter; cool and relaxed in summer.
Turn the indoor pool into an orangery-style banquet room for 100 or dine in style with room for 60 in the Dining Room and castle bar. Then, with the kids tucked up in bed, sit back and relax.
After you’ve taken in the impressive sea views, you’ll sleep soundly in en-suite bedrooms where the chandeliers glisten and the thick curtains pool onto the floor. When the morning sun breaks on the terrace, you could be in Tuscany. That’s The Castle on the Coast – so near, yet it takes you so far.
Surrounding the house there are several individually landscaped paved terraces for outdoor entertaining. Abundant box hedge divisions, sweeping lawns, a dry stone retaining wall and creeper-clad elevations form the English gardens.
To the south-west lies a magnificent Italian garden with rectangular lily ponds and rose beds, as well a beautiful ornamental fountain. From the upper level a pathway descends through a tropical garden passing the waterfall and arriving at the tranquil Japanese tea house.
After entering the dramatic Reception Hall guests may retire to the Library and throw open the French windows onto the terrace or take solace in the study to catch up on some work.
Down the hallway, the bright and sunny conservatory offers a relaxed dining and sitting area overlooking the sea. On into the Drawing Room the views become even more impressive with a more formal sitting room and intimate dining area in front of a fireplace with a wide screen TV and Bose surround sound system available.
The large central kitchen provides the ultimate ‘hub’ of the household.
Towards the south of the property lies the magnificent indoor swimming pool (typically open August – May) which can also be turned into an orangery-style banqueting room overlooking the grounds capable of seating up to 100 people (May – August).
Adjacent to the pool room is the Dining Room and Castle Bar which can seat up to 60 people for a more private dining experience. The oak flooring provides a fantastic dance floor for music and entertainment on into the evening for private parties.
