This wonderfully restored Georgian country house offers the perfect retreat either for a quiet, luxurious weekend, or bring the house to life with festivities and party celebrations. Step through the classic entrance doors to Ewelme Manor and discover this beautiful Georgian home.
Eight acres of Gloucestershire gardens exude tranquillity. Walk the avenue of lime trees. Take morning tea under the veranda. Dine by the heated pool on the south-facing terrace. Sip cocktails by the roaring fire; then get together in the 17th-century dining room.
Cosy up on a feather sofa in the snug with the flickering flames of the wood-burner, or settle down in front of a movie in the cinema room. Take the time to unwind in one of the marble-clad bathrooms in an elegant roll top bath before retiring to your choice of spacious bedrooms, sumptuously furnished. You’ll feel indulgent here.
The heated outdoor pool is set in a South facing terrace close to the kitchen, next to the Loggia with tables and chairs for al fresco dining.
The house sits in an elevated position in 8 acres of secluded gardens and paddocks, made up of several lawned areas bordered with flowerbeds. The garden stretches to the east along the line of the entrance drive where the sheep graze in the paddocks overlooking Uley Valley. The River Ewelme runs as a boundary line through the woodland that stretches along the bottom of the garden. The house overlooks a spring fed fountain with water from the stream that runs through the centre of the garden and forms small ponds in various places.
Walking around the grounds is like walking around an arboretum. The main focal point is a magnificent Copper Beech thought to be over 250 years old cornering a lowered patio, with steps leading down to an avenue of yews, a specimen acer and an additional avenue of grand lime trees. A large magnolia shelters the stream on the lower lawn. It is a garden worth exploring at any time of year.
The second you step through the front door at Ewelme Manor you will relax and enjoy the splendid mix of Cotswold manor house and luxurious modern amenities.
The entrance hall opens onto a big open plan kitchen, dining room with space for 18 to dine together in comfort, lounge and study/snug. Just outside is the home cinema room, with the option to use part of this as an additional bedroom.
