How’s this for a unique selling point? Book Alpaca Cottages in deepest Shakespeare country and you’ll enjoy the company of four friendly alpacas in the paddock behind the back garden. It’s a view that you can also enjoy from the oak-framed feature windows, and one that comes occasionally dotted with grazing sheep and lambs.
So far, so idyllic. And the views of the rolling Warwickshire countryside here can be enjoyed by ten of you sleeping in six bedrooms across two new-build cottages. Play pool and air hockey, cook in luxury kitchens, soak in the freestanding bath while watching the smart TV on the wall, then pop out for an alpaca fix.
Cook or be cooked for in the contemporary kitchen and eat by the picture window with views of the alpacas. Catch the sunrise, catch the sunset, watch out for wildlife: foxes, pheasants, owls, and deer often stop by. Bring your camera, bring your zoom lens, bring the whole family and be as chilled and curious as the alpacas in the paddock.
The gardens are around a quarter of an acre but it’s the elephant in the room you’ll be interested in. Or maybe the alpacas in the paddock. Chilled and cheerful, they graze just behind the garden fence. Occasionally, they’ll be joined by sheep and lambs. And watch out for barn owls, foxes, pheasants, and deer.
Behind the secure, gated access with intercom, everything is as serene and spiritual as you’d expect. The oak-framed picture windows showcase the alpacas in all their grazing glory and the view will occasionally be enhanced by sheep, lambs, a barn owl, fox or a meandering deer.
But there’s more to Alpaca Cottages than alpacas. Settle back on sumptious sofas to stream your Netflix and Amazon Prime Video accounts on ultrafast fibre broadband on one of the 50” TV’s. Break off for games of pool or air hockey. Get together in an idyllic oasis of soft comforts and fluffy wildlife.
Cook in two fully equipped kitchens with integrated appliances that include dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, cooker, hob, and microwave. Or don’t. Settle back and chill with the wildlife while our chefs prepare a one-off blowout or fully catered break. Eat by the picture windows or outside on the dining table and bar table.
Choose from takeaways that include La Dolce Piazza, Nelson’s for fish and chips, and Naya Indian restaurant. Shop for goodies at Co-op in Hockley Heath, major supermarkets in Solihull or three mini-supermarkets in Henley-in-Arden. Tuck in to toasties, jackets, and all-day breakfasts at Henley Kitchen and Bakery.
Walk along country roads to The Bell Inn in Tanworth-in-Arden for breaded breast of chicken Milanese or slow-braised blade of beef. Try the Orange Tree for stone-baked pizza or buffalo buttermilk chicken. Or head to The Winged Spur for lamb rump, steak frites or vegan burger.
Tuck in to pork cutlet or air-dried ribeye steak at The Boot Inn in Lapworth. Sample a Sunday roast at The Mount Pub in Henley. Or try the lunch options at The View at
Hill Farm Marina, including smoked-salmon bagel, gourmet steak and bacon burger, or beetroot, hummus and crispy chickpea ciabatta.
This is a peaceful place to sleep, with the munching of alpacas and the occasional sweep of a barn owl all that’s likely to come between you and your rustic slumber. The two cottages here sleep ten in six modern, luxurious bedrooms. Choose carefully for alpaca views and don’t hog the main bathroom with smart TV built in.
Owl Cottage’s master bedroom offers a kingsize bed with TV and private en-suite shower room. A Juliet balcony serves up great views of the alpacas. Bedroom two is also a kingsize with French doors and Juliet balcony with views over the garden and alpacas, while bedroom three is a comfortable single to the front.
Fox Cottage’s master bedroom has a double bed and private en-suite with shower, while the second bedroom is another double with TV and alpaca views. Bedroom three is a single with views of the alpacas.
