Built in the 1630s, Mears Ashby Hall in Northamptonshire has almost 400 years of incredible history (the nearby village of Mears Ashby was historically notorious for witchcraft). For Downton Abbey style countryside parties, as well as more relaxed family celebrations, Mears Ashby Hall is the ideal location.

Sleeping up to 20 people in the heart of the English countryside, this luxurious yet tasteful country pile boasts attractions such as tennis courts, extensive grounds, and outdoor dining facilities (including a paella maker) in a tranquil and traditional setting. Ideal for hen parties, murder mystery parties, and big country house get-togethers, modern amenities such as Sky TV, wifi, a DVD player, Playstation 3, library, board games, chess set and iPod dock are all included.

At Mears Ashby Hall, Old World elegance meets modern luxury with the Hall’s pleasing offerings of golden honey coloured architecture and open fire places. The fully modernised kitchen and adjoining breakfast room combine to make the perfect place for cooking and dining for big groups, while the stone floors and huge windows spilling buckets of sunlight add character and charm. If you want to get cracking with cooking yourself, there is a magnificent 6-oven aga, but drop-off meals as well as a chef are available.

With 9 bedrooms, Mears Ashby Hall is a large country manor with beautiful contemporary furnishings, making it the perfect location for your special occasions and celebrations.

Think minimal, elegant cream and white walls and floors with an eye on period detail: there are moulded fireplaces and Doric columns in the living room, with bright, fresh pops of colour in the paintings and artworks which adorn the walls.

The cosy, well-stocked library is filled with plush sofas and soft chairs for a really relaxing hideaway: traditional features such as oak panelling, dark walls, and wooden floors remain, while squishy cushions in contemporary colours really bring the space to life, making it the perfect place to gather of an evening. Bedrooms contain traditional four-posters, while the sunny downstairs conservatory is the perfect place for eating breakfast, reading, or simply relaxing.

Don’t think all this means there aren’t other activities and luxuries on offer, though. In addition to beauty treatments and pampering sessions which are available at the Hall, you’ll receive a welcome hamper as well as branded toiletries and other essentials for your stay. Mears Ashby Hall is also ideal for outdoorsy types. With game shooting, clay pigeon shooting, horse riding, cycling, and hiking available either onsite or nearby, Mears Ashby Hall has 11 acres of parkland for roaming, and an ornamental lake for boating- and don’t forget the tennis courts.

At the end of a busy day, you can jump into the Hall’s hot tub for a long soak -alone or with company!- or you can enjoy table tennis, air hockey, table football and darts in the Games Barn. Up to two dogs are allowed to join guests for their stay, and an extra 30 day or evening guests can be comfortably accommodated.
