With its homely Tudor touches, the property is a true family home, replete with six bedrooms, a heated pool, tennis court, and inflatable hot tub. You will have every opportunity to relax and luxuriate in the wonderful surroundings.

Unwind in countryside bliss. Take drinks on the large terrace and admire the stunning Italianate gardens. Bask in the sunshine on the pool terrace. Get competitive over a game of pool in the pool house. But not before you enjoy a family dinner around the 16-seater dining table. Or for a more refined occasion, head to the formal dining room, fit for 10 guests.

Enjoy a meal using the Aga, having purchased fresh local produce from the market town of Saffron Walden where many fine independent stores stock delicious local produce. Eat, laugh and be merry, then sit back and watch a film on the huge Plasma TV in front of the roaring inglenook fireplace. Finish the day by retiring to a haven of exposed beams and plush beds.

Gardens and grounds

Toad Hall’s Crowning Glory is the outdoor pool that is heated to a toasty 28 degrees from May until September. Sunbathe on one of the many sun-loungers or oversized beanies and don’t forget to play a game of pool in the pool house.

Wander around the box hedging in the formal gardens whilst taking in the scent of the many glorious flowers in bloom.

If you prefer alfresco dining, there are three BBQ’s, two coal and one gas. Savour the delights of your outdoor feast with some fine wines and enjoy the sunset. Opt for a nightcap around the chiminea and if it’s chilly, indulge yourself in the sumptuous blankets to keep you extra warm.

Toad Hall is homely and warm, sink into the deliciously sumptuous sofas, warmed by the heat from the inglenook fireplace. Browse the great choice of DVD’s or just pipe some relaxing music through the Sonos system.

Savour the silence, Toad Hall is designed to delight and is a perfect melting pot of traditional beauty and modern convenience. With beams abound, sofas soft and welcoming. As the Aga greets you with warmth, adorn yourself with fluffy blankets and enjoy a cup of cocoa in the evening or tea and toast in the morning.

Cooking and Dining

Eat in the Tudor dining room, full of traditional charm, beneath the old beams. If the weather is on your side, head outside on the terrace beneath the canopy of stars. For a daytime adventure, get the children involved and pack a picnic to enjoy by the pond.

Delight in many great restaurants in the area. Dine at The Three Hills at Barton, with Two Star AA Rosette and Michelin Plate awards. If you are looking for something less formal, The Plough at Radwinter delights with their American style fare, and The Dog and Duck in Linton offer delicious dishes from the globe.

Bedrooms

Toad Hall has six beautifully appointed bedrooms, sleeping 16, and the addition of guest beds would allow for 20 people. Luxuriate in exquisite bathrooms, wet room showers, and modern free-standing baths.

The master bedroom sleeps two in a super-king bed with another gest bed and luxury Jack-and-Jill shower room. It’s an identical story in the Second Master. Bedrooms three and four are doubles that share a bathroom and shower. Bedrooms five and six offer three singles in each with a possibility of a guest bed in each and who share the master bathroom.

Surrounded by rolling fields, the Dick Turpin Trail, huge dark skies that glitter at night, you are sure to drop into a delicious sleep that will revive and invigorate you.

Punt, climb, dive and swing

Head to Cambridge to punt on the River Cam and climb the tower at St. Mary’s. For the golfer, Saffron Walden boasts a truly marvelous Golf Course as does Gog Magog in Cambridge. Visit Europe’s largest Imperial War Museum at Duxford. Kids can meet the lemurs and lions at Linton Zoo, or visit the Steam Engines at Colne Valley Railway or dive deep at the medieval Royston Cave.
