Sandcastles, surfing and swimming

There are seven beaches for sunshine, sandcastles and swimming. There are tractors to ride and cows to milk at Dairyland Farm World. And real pirate adventures to be had at Pirate’s Quest. Grown-ups can shoot clay at St Column, walk the spectacular south west coast path, or surf the wild north-coast waves.

Kids ahoy!

Rain or shine, Cornwall is activity central for kids. Beneath the soaring cliffs, seven beaches offer sandcastles and swimming, rock-pool rummaging and piratical fun in the coves. There are boat rides around the bay, steam trains to ride, adventure parks to invade and real pirate adventures to be had.

Take the Lappa Valley steam train from Newlyn Halt to the family games field. Follow the underwater tunnel through a coral-reef tank with pufferfish, sharks and rays at the Blue Reef Aquarium. See lions, wildebeest and sloths at Newquay Zoo. Or take a drive to the Eden Project and get lost in the worlds largest indoor rainforest.

Try a real buccaneering adventure at Pirate’s Quest: follow the mystical caves and murky streets of 18th-century Cornwall to the crew’s recruitment base at Blackbeard’s Tavern. Brave the rides and survive Britain in the Blitz at Flambards theme park, or shoot the water flumes at Oasis Fun Pools.

Climb and count the steps down to Whipsiderry Beach, paddleboard or kayak around the coastline, walk with the dogs at Watergate Bay, splash around in Bude Sea Pool at Summerleaze Beach. North Cornwall is where kids come alive.

For the grown-ups

Halula Beach House is located in the exclusive area of Pentire, surrounded by breathtaking coastal walks, jogging trails and the Gannel River, a beautiful place to horse ride, walk, fly kites, canoe and so much more.

The town sits above seven fine beaches, all with soft sand and easy swimming. The best of these has to be the surfing hot spot and capital of England, Fistral Beach. Just a few minutes’ walk from the front door and you’re there. You can enjoy not only sun and sand but also lessons from the Surf School.

Within walking distance are coarse fishing at Porth Reservoir and riding at Trenance Stables. Shoot some clay at St Column or a round of golf at Newquay Golf Club. Walk the spectacular south west coast path, or walk into a world of pampering and wellbeing at the Headland Spa.

Tennis buffs can work on their game at the Heron Tennis Centre, and there’s plenty scope to splash around at Waterworld in the water flumes and snake floatie. Or how about snorkelling, a sea safari, or even shark-cage diving? Or just a boat trip to spot seals, dolphins, basking sharks and harbour porpoise.

Elsewhere, try bare-feet coasteering, windsurfing and kitesurfing, skimboarding at Tolcarne Beach, or harness or hydrozorbing at Cornwall Zorbing Park. Maybe slow the pace with a trip back through time to Elizabethan manor house Trerice or a trot round St Columb Minor Parish Church.

Head to Truro for quality shopping and along the beach to The Headland Hotel and Spa for pampering and treatments. Halula provides you with the best of both worlds. Situated minutes from all the action of Fistral and its surrounds, you’ll never be wanting for amazing things with which to fill your time. It’s all down to you to take the action and the calm in equal measures whenever and whenever it suits.
