Suffolk’s a heady hotch-potch of quaint villages and medieval towns bordered by beaches, peppered by wetlands and capped with big blue skies. But book a holiday at Cedar Hall and you might never leave the house. This is a huge hunk of family fun sleeping 22 plus dogs that’s made for celebrations, reunions and recalibrations.
Bang on the Suffolk heritage coast, close by wetlands and waterways, Cedar Hall sits behind private gates at the end of a long gravelled drive. It’s choc-full of mischief: dip yourself in the outdoor pool, whack a ball around the all-weather tennis court, hit the gym in the poolhouse, play snooker in the games barn fuelled by a tipple from the bar.
Sing along with the Sonos, stream the superfast Wi-Fi, burn another log or two. Get together in the TV room for Sky, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Cook on the Aga and electric hob, sleep in decadent bedrooms with far-reaching views of the cedar trees and lawns. Chillax in an uplifting and extraordinary escape.
There’s plenty out there among the 14 acres of lovingly landscaped greenery to keep you amused. The coal barbecue on the terrace is a good place to start. Follow up with a few sets of tennis on the astroturf court, set beautifully within the paths and borders.
Take a summertime dip in the outdoor pool with its poolhouse complete with gym equipment and refuel with a light lunch from the kitchenette and bar. Keep the Sonos going in the garden. Escape to the coach house for cheeky drinks, snooker and darts.
Cedar Hall gives you places to congregate and spaces to duck out and decompress. It’s the perfect venue for you to just ‘do you’. You’ll do it all to the backdrop of the Sonos system that covers the house and garden, and with the prospect of fun and games at every turn.
The fun’s at its peak in the converted coach house, now a party room in the style of a Chesterfield-heavy gentlemen’s club. The wood-panelled walls come with bi-folding doors so you get to play a frame on the full-size snooker table while gazing at the gardens. Grab another drink from the bar and it’s on to the dartboard.
You’ve another bar to enjoy in the poolhouse. Pop in after your swim for a light lunch from the kitchenette and a snifter to help the day flow. At day’s end, come together in the TV room for Sky, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Stream the superfast Sky broadband, take breakfast in the conservatory, live it large in luxury’s lavish lap.
Don’t fancy applying your culinary skills to the Aga, electric oven and electric hob plus two large fridges and more in the coach house and pool house? Call on our chef, James Jay, for a one-off knees-up or a fully catered break. Or tuck into takeaways from Aldeburgh fish and chips (cooked the Yorkshire way) and Shapla in Woodbridge.
Eat in the baronial dining room with the log fire blazing and the chandeliers glinting in the light from the big sash windows. Or head out to the terraces among the manicured gardens to eat meat from Revett and Sons cooked on the coal barbecue, or just a snack from the poolhouse kitchenette. A Nespresso will finish things off nicely.
Make a night of it in The Unruly Pig, winner of multiple awards including Number One in the Estrella Damm Gastropub of the Year and the Good Pub Guide’s Dining Pub of the Year. Try The Turk’s Head for Suffolk beef burger or artichoke linguine. Or pizza from the wood burner on Wednesdays at The Duck in Campsea Ashe.
Head to The Table in Woodbridge for delicious world foods in a casual setting. Try the spectacular seafood and grill restaurant on the beach side of The Brudenell with ceiling-to-floor surf views. Or will it be A-Listers, a casual restaurant attached to the charming cinema in Woodbridge?

So bring the whole family, plus four-legged friends, and make every day a party, kicking off, and probably finishing, in the outdoor pool with pool house complete with gym and snacktastic kitchenette.
Beyond the pool you’ve got 14 acres of lovingly tended greenery in which to hide, seek and probably never find.
