Enjoy toys galore here in the western end of Lancashire. Out among the greenery in total seclusion, only the occasional bat disturbs the rural air as up to 20 of your family, friends, stags or hens descend on a premium play palace. Live high on the hog in a barnstorming conversion that’s all high-tech and high jinks.
You could just put your feet up, clink your flutes and admire the clean lines, the modern beauty and the high-gloss brilliance of the 360 Barn. Or you can get stuck in. Fish the lake. Kick a ball into the nets. Shoot some pool. Catch a movie in the home cinema. Get a wet workout in the swim spa.
Cook up some dreams in the high-gloss kitchen. Fire up the coal barbie in the seven-acre grounds. Create a flaming-onion volcano on the teppanyaki hotplate. Pour a coffee from the Miele machine. Sleep in crisp-cottoned comfort to the sound of total silence. Then do it all again tomorrow.
The fields and trees span for miles beneath giant skies. The seclusion is all-consuming and the silence deafening, punctuated only by the wings of the bats at twilight or the dragonflies that hover over the lake. Speaking of which, bring your rod and line and a tuna sandwich or two.
Elsewhere among the rolling seven acres, you can kick a ball into the footy nets, load the coals onto the barbie and eat al-fresco out on the decks. Or get a workout in the swim spa, or just chill in the bubbles, with enough room for 20. Yes, 20.
Spaces here are clean, contemporary and as cool as a penguin’s toenails. TVs abound. They’re all large and they all offer recordable Sky packages. Everywhere you go, there’s space to get a party on or enough places for privacy, so you can just tap into the wifi, pull on your headphones and zone out.
The main living area is an open-plan lounge, dining room and kitchen. Chill on the leather sofas, get a box set up on the TV, chop and chat with whoever’s doing dinner. These are sociable spaces. Up on the first floor, the chill-out area invites you to do just that, with leather armchairs, recliners, TV and fizz on the table.
The games room is where the action is. Chalk up your cue and get competitive over billiards or pool. Play some ping pong. Keep your fizz cold in the drinks cooler. Regress with table football. Toe the oche and hit a 180. Pour yourself another G&T from the bar. These spaces are scientifically proven to be stress-proof.
Oh, and don’t forget the movie room. Some cinema rooms are a couple of chairs and a 32” screen. The 360 Barn’s movie room is 180 degrees from that. Welcome to a neon-lit, giant-screened den of cinematic fun complete with Sky, Netflix and cosy leather armchairs. Don’t forget the popcorn.
The high-gloss grey kitchen looks as delicious as the fare produced from the four ovens and hot plates. Or perhaps you’d prefer a little Oriental magic. Use the teppanyaki plate to cook up steak, shrimp, okonomiyaki, yakisoba or monjayaki. Or just bacon, eggs, tomato and hash browns.
If you’d rather hand over the hob to the experts, take a dip in the swim spa while our chefs rustle up a one-off celebratory spread or fully catered break. Eat in the open-plan dining area as you chit-chat with the chef, around the kitchen-island breakfast bar, or al fresco out on the decks by the lake or swim spa.
For eating out, the Beefeater is handy and hearty. Try Pesto in Ormskirk for rigatoni and risotto, Pizza Hut and Pizza Express to keep the kids happy, and Miller and Carter in Aughton for chunky steaks and stunning rural views. Tackle some Turkish at TurQuaz, Portuguese at Piri, or Indian at Annukha.
Ramp up the style and sophistication at The Vincent in Southport for European and international flavours washed down with sunny cocktails. Or head to Michelin-starred Moor Hall for top-end dining on Westmoreland chicken or turbot cooked on the bone. Grab your late-night takeaways from Spice House, Scrummies or Curry Leaf.
Sleek, stylish and boutique, the six bedrooms at the 360 Barn have an upmarket decadence accented by travertine floor tiles, deep mattresses, crisp cotton sheets and contemporary en-suites. All wrapped in a silent veil of rural tranquillity.
