The Darling Buds Classic Car Show is a major draw-card for car aficionados from all across Europe. Celebrating it’s 20th anniversary, the car show features over 900 pre-1990 classic cars. A wide range of vehicles can be enjoyed at the show including everything from vintage Rolls Royces to 1970s super cars.
The event is held in one of the most beautiful locations in the United Kingdom — the Darling Buds Farm in Kent. This farm is widely known because it was used in the making of the popular television show The Darling Buds of May. This year the car show will be held on the Sunday 5th July from 10am to 4pm.
Some of the many automobiles, trucks and motorbikes on view will include:
- Volkswagen Beatles, Morris Minors and other classic 1960s vehicles
- Classic European cars including Alfa Romeos, Porsches and Saabs from the 1970s
- Military vehicles from the 1940s
- Hundreds of classic British-made cars including Rovers from the 1960s
- Police vehicles from decades ago
- Pop Larkin’s truck from the Darling Buds of May
- Farm trucks from the 1930s-1950s
- Vintage cars from the start of the 20th-Century
- 1950s American cars by makers including GM, Studebaker, Ford and Chrysler
- American hot rods
- Pre-1990 Supercars!
The car show is a great day out for the entire family and includes a number of features to keep everyone entertained.
Visitors will be able to sample some of the local area’s best cuisine with food stalls and local produce available at the event. If you are interested in obtaining a collectible to take home, there will be arts & crafts stalls and a vintage fair. In total, the event will have over 60 trade stalls.
A licensed bar is on site so guests can enjoy a glass of wine, cider or ale. The licensed area will also feature some local wines so you can taste the best vintages available from Kent and nearby areas.
The Woodchurch Morris Men will be on site to provide some entertainment. Formed 25 years ago, the group are the première Morris dancers in the Cotswolds. The group has performed throughout Europe and are sure to delight the crowds.
For the children, there is a Punch & Judy show, Funfair and Children’s Play Area to enjoy. The Kent Fire and Rescue crew will also provide a demonstration that children love to watch. A falconry display is also a popular attraction for the kids.
There are also some great-quality restaurants nearby including ‘The Black Horse Pub’, ‘The Dering Arms’, ‘The Swan’ and ‘Three Chimneys’. Other local places to visit include a number of famous cultural and tourist attractions such as Godinton House & Gardens, Biddenden Vineyard, Eastwell Manor, The Chapel Down Winery, Sissinghurst Castle Gardens, Cranbrook Museum, Port Lympne Animal Park and Leeds Castle. Entrance for the Darling Buds Classic Car Show is £12 per car (pre-booked) or £15 on the day. The entrance fee for individuals is £5 for Adults, £3 for children or pensioners.
